Background

The Tweed valley has long been a destination for mountain bikers and Forestry Commission Scotland has an extensive network of trails at both Glentress and Innerleithen.  However, the sport has evolved and a significant network of trails have been developed by locals to provide a challenge to riders. These trails support the growing “enduro” mountainbike community and race scene as well as developing new young and new riders to the sport.  This is now thriving and the valley hosted the Enduro World Series in 2014 and 2015.  The events were a huge success as a part of a now world renowned festival of biking in the Tweed Valley.

The growth in popularity of enduro mountain biking means that the local off-piste trail network is seeing increased use. As these trails are generally not official FCS trails, the maintenance of them tend to be done by the builders.  The TVTA is a community group dedicated to the stewardship and development of the Tweed Valley mountain bike trail network.

We plan to use this website to keep all interested parties updated about the project.
